In short: Lookupist is a Chrome extension that shows whether the people and companies on any web page are already in your Attio workspace, lets you look up any name, email or company you highlight, and adds new records to Attio without leaving the page.

1. Overview

Lookupist for Attio connects a Chrome browser to an Attio workspace. Once connected, it can:

  • Look up records: highlight text on any page, or use the search box in the extension, to find matching People and Companies in Attio.
  • Add records: open the Lookupist panel on any page and create a Person (or a record in another object you choose) with the fields you pick.
  • Show what's already in Attio (Premium Search): spot emails, phone numbers, names, companies and websites on the page and mark each one as already in Attio or new.

Lookupist only acts in Attio when you use it, with the access you approve when you connect. It doesn't run background syncs or change existing records.

2. Install

  1. Install Lookupist for Attio from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Chrome opens the Lookupist sign-in page. Click Sign in with Attio.
  3. Pin Lookupist to your toolbar: click the Extensions icon in Chrome, then the pin next to Lookupist.

3. Connect your Attio workspace

Lookupist uses Attio's official OAuth sign-in. When you click Sign in with Attio:

  1. Attio asks you to choose a workspace and shows the permissions Lookupist requests (listed below).
  2. You approve, and Attio returns you to Lookupist. Your workspace name and email appear in the extension.
  3. Lookupist is now active on the websites you choose in the extension popup under Where it runs (all websites by default).

Each person signs in with their own Attio account. Records you create are created by your Attio user, and Attio's own access rules still apply.

4. Permissions we request

Lookupist asks for the minimum access needed for the features above:

AccessAttio API usedWhy Lookupist needs it
Records: read and writerecords/query, records/search, create recordTo find People and Companies that match what's on the page, and to create the records you add.
Object configuration: readobjects, objects/…/attributesTo list your objects and their attributes, so the form shows your workspace's fields (including custom attributes and select options).
User management: readself, workspace_membersTo identify the signed-in workspace member (name and email), so your plan and settings apply to you.

Lookupist doesn't delete records, change workspace settings, or read notes, tasks, emails or call recordings.

5. Using Lookupist

Look up a record

  • Highlight a name, email, phone number or company on any page, then click Search Attio.
  • Or right-click a link (for example a LinkedIn profile or a website) and choose Search Attio with Lookupist.
  • Or type in the search box in the extension popup.
  • Matching People and Companies appear with their key details. Click one to open it in Attio.

Add a record

  • Click the Lookupist tab on the right edge of any page to open the panel.
  • Fill in the fields and click Submit. The record is created in Attio straight away.
  • In Person Properties, choose which Attio attributes appear on your form. You can also switch to other objects, including custom objects.

Choose where it runs

In the extension popup, under Where it runs, turn Lookupist on for LinkedIn, Gmail, Google Calendar, all websites, or just the site you're on.

6. Premium Search

With a paid plan, Lookupist scans the page you're viewing for emails, phone numbers, names, companies and websites:

  • A green dot means the value isn't in Attio yet; a red dot means it already is. Click a dot to see the matching record.
  • Pins auto-scan the types you choose on every page. Pin them for yourself, or for everyone at your company.
  • Custom fields: click any element on a website to teach Lookupist to read it and match it to an Attio attribute.

7. Plans and billing

  • Free trial: a limited number of lookups and new records, with no payment details needed. Trial usage is counted per Attio workspace.
  • Solo ($29/month or $290/year) covers the member who buys it.
  • Smart Team ($49/month or $490/year for up to 3 members, plus $15/month or $150/year for each extra member) covers the buyer and the teammates they invite by email from their subscription page.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe. Manage or cancel your plan from Manage subscription in the extension popup.

See pricing for details.

8. Your data

  • Attio records are read from Attio when you look something up and aren't stored by Lookupist. Records you create go straight to Attio.
  • Sign-in tokens: the extension stores the access token Attio issues for your connection, so it can call Attio for you. Any refresh token is kept only on Lookupist's server and never sent to your browser.
  • Account details we keep: your Attio workspace ID and name, your member email and name, trial usage counts and your plan.
  • Settings (enabled sites, form layout, pins, custom fields) are stored in your browser. Company-wide pins are stored on our server by email domain.
  • Usage analytics: we record feature use (for example, a search or a new record), including the page address, to improve Lookupist.

We don't sell your data. Read the full Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

9. Disconnect or uninstall

  • Remove the extension: go to chrome://extensions and click Remove on Lookupist.
  • Revoke access in Attio: in Attio, open your workspace settings, find Lookupist under connected apps, and remove it. Lookupist can then no longer access your workspace.
  • Delete your data: contact us and we'll delete your account details and tokens.
  • If you have a paid plan, cancel it from Manage subscription first.

10. Troubleshooting

  • The Lookupist tab doesn't appear on a page: check that the site is turned on under Where it runs, then reload the page.
  • "Attio denied this action": your Attio user may not have access to that object, or the connection has expired. Sign in again from the extension.
  • Fields are missing from the form: add them in Person Properties. New attributes created in Attio appear after you reopen the panel.
  • Premium features are locked: make sure you're signed in with the email that has the plan, or ask your team owner to add you to their Smart Team.
